Cassette Kids Lying Around Tour
In November 2009, Sydney based outfit Cassette Kids will embark on their first national headline tour in over twelve months, performing songs from their forthcoming debut album, ‘Nothing On TV’, set for release March 2010 through Sony Music.
Having toured with a myriad of cutting edge artists such as Lily Allen, The Presets, Grafton Primary, The Ting Tings, New Young Pony Club, Crystal Castles, Van She, Muscles and more, Cassette Kids are fast cementing their reputation as one of the hottest and hardest working live bands in the country.
‘Lying Around’ is one of a dozen stunning tracks that make up the debut album by the Kids (aka Katrina, Dan S, Dan D and Jake); the result of buckling down in the studio for the better part of the last 6 months with the uber-talented producer duo Richard Wilkinson (Hot Chip, Adele, Magic Numbers, Carl Cox) and Michael Di Francesco aka Mikey from Van She (Ladyhawke).
Not only did the Kids experiment hard and long with their sounds and instrumentation under the guidance of Richard and Mikey, they have called upon many of their close musical buddies to further collaborate and remix a number of tracks from the debut. Van She and Fred Faulke jumped at the chance to be involved and their remixes of ‘Lying Around’ will also be in the clubs and at radio shortly. Keep your ears peeled!
‘Nothing On TV’ sees the band take a big step forward sound-wise. The album displays a decidedly more pop-styled direction while maintaining that unique Cassette Kids grit. Along with their passion for new sounds which have clearly pushed beyond the boundaries of their earlier releases, the new long-player is inspired by some strong themes centred around taking action, and the motivation to get up and take charge of life. Explains lead singer Katrina, “The first single, ‘Lying Around’, has a great energy and quite a strong message: If you don’t get off your arse and go after what you want, then you can’t expect it to fall in your lap.”
The ‘Lying Around Tour’ will come to venues around Australia supporting their first single ‘Lying Around’, which hits airwaves nationally in October through Sony Music.
