If you missed out on tickets to Splendour this year, but yearn for a multiple big name bill we have just the ticket! With a plethora of Splendour In The Grass sideshows heading to major cities in 2010, there are a number of opportunities to get up close and personal with your favourite bands, here is one rare opportunity to see two legendary performances in one long music filled night.

Music lovers in Sydney and Melbourne will be treated to a co-headline show featuring, iconic Irish indie pop outfit Ash, and American college darlings We Are Scientists. Both acts will join the party to celebrate 10 years of Splendour In The Grass, and both will be hitting Sydney and Melbourne for a more intimate evening with fans.  Adding to the excitement, each band will arrive on our shores cradling new offerings to coat fans’ musical palates.

With over 8 million records sold worldwide, Ash released the first volume of their 26-song odyssey, ‘Ash A-Z Vol. 1’ locally last month. The ambitious A-Z Series kicked off in October 2009 with the band releasing 1 song every 2 weeks. UK critics have credited the 26 singles in one year (a single for each letter of the alphabet) in revitalising the band and their creative energy. In Australia the A-Z series will be split into two volumes, rather than the biweekly offering, so fans will get two big doses of Ash in 2010.

Effective funk-pop…sounds like NKOTB singing with Franz Ferdinand” – NME

“An electro-tinged, bass-heavy monster…beats Kasabian at their own indie-dance game.” – GUARDIAN

New York-based, California-grown, We Are Scientists’ are used to giving birth to hit singles, their new CD will hit Australian stores this June, just in time for them to take the stage with new singles in tow. ‘Barbara’, is the band’s third album and enlists the help of former Razorlight member, Andy Burrows on the skins.  You can hear Andy on the album, but will have the pleasure of seeing local hitter Danny Lee Allen from Youth Group live on stage; he’s the current man with the sticks for their touring line up. The first single ‘Rules Don't Stop’ has just been serviced to radio and TV.

Scientists indeed, these three warlords of electro-nerd have concocted the Perfect American Band, circa 2006” NME

Local Brisbane lads Last Dinosaurs, have been pricking ears since uploading their demo onto triple j Unearthed in early 2009.  They were named triple j Unearthed feature artists within weeks and shortly after found themselves playing shows with Matt & Kim (NY), Red Riders and Lost Valentinos and being named the highlight gig of Australian music conference Big Sound.  They will warm the stage at both shows for Ash and We Are Scientists, to round out a very big night of aural excitement.
